Week 7 FMP

During this week my focus has been on my final outcome. Most of the week went as planned and my final piece was going okay however I then realised I didn’t leave enough room to attach the wood to make it into a scroll. But i soon found a solution and added on an extra piece.

When my piece was close to finishing, I realised II still wanted to include some pattern so after being given advice from tutors I photocopied my scroll in places and drew on some patterns on the photocopy. I was really happy with the way it looked so I decided to do it to my original scroll. All the piece needed then was the two wooden dowels for the ends.

When it came to finishing the shibori, I decided to use up the string from the dyeing process for this. I glued that to the fabric itself. I also used the rest of the string to create a tassel for each one, which I also glued on to the fabric. I then glued a piece of wood on the top and the bottom and repeated for the other side. This was quite a long process as I had to make sure the fabric was central with the wood. The glue also took a while to dry.
