This project was probably the most difficult one I’ve ever done. I love books, novels, myths and films so this became difficult when I wanted to research as many as possible. It got frustrating when I didn’t have time to research them all. Researching was a lot easier than I expected it to be because I didn’t realise how many books I had on Myths, legends and folklore. It was a lot easier being able to have books to reference to.
When it came to choosing and audience, I feel as though you wouldn’t be able to know what audience you’d choose until you actually had a physical piece of art they you would sell. In the beginning I wanted to create something that would be for children however after realising what type of outcome I had that quickly changed to adults.
As I’m indecisive, choosing the area that I would create a piece based on was really hard. It took me a long while to choose and it became really tiring trying to pick it when I wasn’t having any ideas. I guess you could say I had artist block, my mind didn’t want to generate ideas. I did come to a conclusion eventually which was fairies.
The experiment stage became easier and a lot more fun. Fairies were something I believed in as a kid, mainly because of Tinkerbell on Peter Pan. I did a few experiments including stitch, pen drawings and paper-making. Id have to say paper making was definitely my favourite part which is why i chose it for my final outcome.
