For the past couple of weeks I have been working on my childhood painting/drawing. It’s been a challenge for me because I like working slowly, delicately and on a small scale where as this is on a really big scale and I have to work fast. I’ve also created a smaller design to give me an idea on how I want to finish it. I also created it because I started my large piece off by using watercolours, which my tutor believed it didn’t look finished, so I decided for the smaller piece I would try and use acrylic paint. It gave the piece a more finished look so I agreed with my tutor and used acrylic paint for my large piece too. It definitely brought the picture together. The smallest changes made a huge difference. This task has been difficult but enjoyable at the same time because it’s been nice to remind myself of what made my childhood so great. Making this painting has taught me that you can keep going back to the same area to keep changing the way it looks as you progress. I haven’t finished the piece yet so I will need to work on it in my spare time to get it done. Next week I will be working on A3 pieces using phrases, words and dates but incorporating sections of the large painting.
