In today’s lesson we layered materials and using stitch to secure it and create the drawing of seed heads.
I really enjoyed creating these pieces. I love stitching in all different ranges. I was working on the first piece for quite a while as I wanted it to be perfect, but when I do that I’m extremely slow. After talking to my tutor about how one of the things I need to do is step out of my comfort zone. So to start doing that I will work on one area of a piece of work and do it extremely fast so I’m not thinking about it too much. that’s what I did on the second piece and I honestly prefer it to the one I did delicately. The second one was my favourite to create however the one that looks the best to me is the third one as the textures are interesting. I feel as though I raised the surface a bit more in the last one. To create each one of these I layered different types of fabric and then I pinned it in place. I then took a really fine thread and using running stitch to secure my first layer in place. Then adding different materials to add texture and securing it with a thicker darker thread to create the seed heads. I’ve also added text to each one by securing it under netting. The words each describe the type of seed head.
