First lesson in level 3 year 2

Today we did some observational drawing of the lake near by the college. I used charcoal and white chalk. Nothing else. It was a sunny day. I first sat on a bench furthest away from the pier and started to draw in between the trees because I thought it was a good composition. The trees created a frame and there was a good foreground, middle ground and background, however I just wasn’t grasping the information in front of me. I wasn’t enjoying it. So after deciding where i was sat wasn’t working for me, I decided to sit on the pier and use the wooden planks on the pier as the frame. There was a better foreground, middle ground and background on the pier. It was interesting because the information kept changing as the day went on because the lighting changed as the sun went behind the clouds. When it came to the end of the day I didn’t want to stop drawing. It was a really fun and therapeutic lesson to start the week with.
